Thalia Spanish Theatre’s 74-seat space has been praised as “a gem of a theatre” (exploredance.com).  Kitty Carlisle-Hart called it a “jewelbox” and the Village Voice described our theatre as a “delightful, intimate playhouse”.

The theatre has a lobby with box office, three bathrooms (one unisex in the lobby and two backstage, including one wheelchair-accessible), and dressing rooms in the basement.  The space has central air conditioning and heat.

The building has one story, with an emergency exit in the rear that is also useful for loading in.  Seating is accessed via stairs from the back of the house or, for those with limited mobility, from the floor of the house.  The stage and the front row are on the same level.  There are eight rows of varying sizes (from eight to 14 seats across), with a total of twelve steps from the stage to the top of the seating.  There is one center aisle bisecting the rows. There are 74 comfortable, plush seats and a number of padded chairs for additional seating.

We have a state-of-the-art projection system to offer scenery and supertitles.

Our acoustics and sound equipment are excellent.  In fact, the music from our 2005 musical “Te Amo Tango”, which was recorded live in our theatre and released on CD by SoundBrush records, won the 2007 Latin Grammy for Best Tango Album.

The theatre is fully-equipped with microphones (including wireless), music stands, a high-quality upright concert piano, an electric keyboard, and computerized lighting and sound.  Please notify us of your tech requirements.

Our space also makes an excellent location for shooting films and television shows.
