With names like Federico García Lorca, Luis Buñuel Salvador Dalí, and many others, much has been written about the Generation of ’27, a group of Spanish artists who, taking advantage of to the climate of freedom that existed during the Second Republic, broke with the schemes that in until then they restricted his creative work. It was a creative Tsunami that rocked the Spanish-speaking universe — and far beyond.
Unfortunately, when freedom ended in the Iberian Peninsula, some of these artists were persecuted terribly. Federico García Lorca was murdered; others chose exile. It is also to be regretted that the names that sound the most are men’s – especially when there were so many women – painters, poets, novelists, essayists, philosophers.

Con nombres como Federico García Lorca, Luis Buñuel, Salvador Dalí y muchos otros es mucho lo se ha escrito sobre la Generación del 27, un grupo de artistas españoles que, inspirados en el clima de libertad que se vivió durante la Segunda República, rompieron con los esquemas que hasta entonces restringían su labor creativa. Fue un Tsunami creativo que sacudió el universo hispano parlante — y mucho más allá.
Es de lamentar, también, que cuando fueron extinguidas las luces de la libertad, y se impuso un régimen de represión y violencia algunos de estos artistas sufrieron terribles persecuciones. Federico García Lorca fue asesinado. Muchos otros optaron por el exilio. Es triste también que los nombres que más suenen son de hombres – especialmente cuando no faltaron mujeres — pintoras, poetisas, novelistas, ensayistas, filósofas.
