Bilingualism, music, and audience participation. These are three elements that we consider in many of our productions and that are part of the success that we have reaped through 45 years at Thalia Spanish Theatre. Bilingualism is key because we deal with mixed audiences. Some, usually older immigrants, prefer to speak Spanish, while the younger ones have grown up speaking English. Imagine 2 shores on a river, joined by the bridge of music. And well, when crossing that bridge, audience participation thru singing and dancing brings in an infusion of energy, which is that makes each show unique. This was fully appreciated by Kristen Guglielmo in her kind review of our Señor Bolero / 9/2023 in the Queens Chronicle.

Son éstos tres elementos que barajamos en muchas de nuestras producciones y que forman parte del éxito que hemos cosechado a través de 45 años en Thalia Spanish Theatre. El bilingüismo es clave porque tratamos con audiencias mixtas. Algunos, por lo general los inmigrantes mayores, prefieren hablar español, mientras que los más jóvenes se han criado hablando inglés. Podrían ser 2 orillas unidas por el puente de la música. Y bueno, al cruzar ese puente, la participación de la audiencia, cantando, bailando inyecta mucha energía, que hace que cada espectáculo sea único.
